Rainforests cover only 3% of the Earth’s surface, yet they’re essential for maintaining a stable climate and supporting 80% of the world’s terrestrial species. In 2024 alone, 6.7 million hectares of primary rainforest were destroyed — the equivalent of 18 football fields every minute.
Deforestation drives around 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions, making rainforest protection one of the most powerful climate actions any organisation can support.
Cool Earth’s model is simple but transformative — supporting communities with direct funding, technology, and tools to help them protect their forests. From basic income pilots to innovative Rainforest Labs, this approach ensures that local people lead the way in tackling deforestation where it matters most.
